Another method of punching the light line and fixing it has been invented, proposed and applied to the repair of some ships in the Lay dock.


This method is based on the principle that if a ray of light hits the photographic paper, then after the paper is developed, a black dot appears in this place.


A stand of a sufficiently stable design is made, on the top of which a photo paper can be fixed (relative to the stand) in a fixed position. According to the drawing of the stand, it is possible to judge the position of the photo paper relative to the hull of the vessel (dimensions: by the width of the standard sheet of photo paper; by the greatest distance of the axial line of the shaft from the second bottom).


Thus, the punching of the light line is reduced to the following. A portable stand is installed at the installation site of the support or other foundation. A photo paper is fixed in a specially prepared place and a light source is lit for one or two seconds (depending on the strength of the light beam). When punching a light line by a new method, this source can be an ignited voltaic arc, the brightness of which is significantly higher than the brightness of the bulb hair.


The beam is fixed in all the necessary places; the sheets of photo paper are marked, then the photo paper is developed, and the points that appear give the exact position of the light beam.


After installing all bearings (support, thrust and frame) and seals for their final boring, the light line is punched again. The capture and fixation of the light beam with ordinary targets can also be replaced by photographing them in this case. In this case, small pieces of photo paper are pasted in the center of a disk made of thick cardboard, specially cut out for this purpose. Photo paper is pasted from the side of the incident beam of light. On the cardboard and on the ends of bearings and oil seals, they make risks that are used for further marking.


Each photo, as in the previous case, is marked. It should be developed under red light, watering a little developer directly on the photo paper.


If the photo is not needed for long-term storage, it can not be fixed with a fixer. For marking bearings and oil seals, a marking plate is used, which achieves significant accuracy. To mark the end face, which has a photo inside a bearing or an oil seal, a hole is pierced in the disk in the center of a black dot (a photo of a light beam) and further marking is carried out by the usual method. It should be noted that the application of a concentric circle should be carried out in such a way that after boring the bearing, the blackened circle is preserved and can serve as a control.


Using the described method of punching the light line, extremely accurate measurements are obtained. This method can be recommended in all cases when it is necessary to break through the light line and fix its position.
