Green light for US sports betting drives up shares

Shares in casinos and betting shops in the U.S. are surging following the Supreme Court's "yes" vote on sports betting. Shares of Caesars Entertainment and Boyd Gaming are up seven and nearly five percent to $12.75 and $36.67, respectively.

The Supreme Court in Washington had previously ruled by a majority of six to three in favor of the state of New Jersey, which had allowed such bets in 2014 in its casinos or at horse racetracks. This invalidates federal law that has been in effect since 1992, when sports betting was banned in most states.
