Costar Swellable Waterstop is hydrophilic swelling waterstop which exhibits excellent durability and water sealing capacity. It expands as it absorbs water and fills concrete joint gaps conforming to the gap variation, ensuring excellent sealing. It is suitable for use in Vertical and horizontal cast-in-place concrete joints where limited movement is expected. Costar swellable waterbar is ideal for new concrete structures or between new and existing concrete.

Application Instruction
Substrate Preparation:
Concrete surfaces and/or pipe must be clean and free from laitance, dirt, dust and any other bond inhibiting substances.
Application:
It is essential that there is at least 3” coverage of concrete from the side exposed to water. Bond Waterstop-Strip with a suitable adhesive. Apply a bead of adhesive and press the Waterstop-Strip into the adhesive until it oozes out from beneath. Approximately 4.5 – 6mm bead will yield approximately 9 m of coverage.
Do not begin the placement of concrete for at least 8 hours after bonding. Ensure that the waterstop makes complete contact with the substrate. Waterstop connections can be made by overlapping by 2” (50 mm) or by butt jointing. The waterstop must be placed tightly together to prevent gaps. Butt jointed waterstops must be covered by a separate section of waterstop with 31.75 mm overlap to both sections. Alternately, Waterstop-Strip can be fastened with masonry nails, 40 – 50mm long with 20 mm diameter washer. Space nails at a maximum of 200 mm centers with a minimum spacing to ensure proper substrate contact.
